What goals are you aiming for, and why?  Does it matter enough to make you get that workout in?

If you need a little motivation I have put together a list of the top 8 reasons to exercise.  Read through this list and pull out the ones that ones that get you motivated, jot them down and review them daily.

1. Stress Relief, for a Happier You
When you exercise your body releases a feel good chemical called endorphins that make you feel happier, less stressed, and energized.  So when you are stressed, in a bad mood, or having a bad day get out there and exercise go for a long walk, jog, or get in a great weight training circuit to feel better.

2. Exercise Reduces Disease
It has been proven time and time again that a regular exercise routine limits your risk for major diseases such as heart disease, strokes, type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis, and cancer. Wow now that’s motivating!

3. Look Amazing, Feel Amazing
Exercise burns excess fat, tightens and tones your body, firms your muscles, and improves your posture.  Making you look amazing, and when you look amazing you feel amazing.  Exercise boosts your self esteem, gives you a since of accomplishment, and it’s rewarding when your hard work pays off with results.

4. Get Restful Sleep
Exercise to have a full night of restful sleep.   Are you tired of tossing and turning all night?  Exercise boosts your energy levels through out the day, but also wears you out.  Making your sleep at night more restful and deep, to recover for the next day.

5. To Slow Aging
Regular exercise is the only natural way to slow the aging process and its effects on the body.  When you age your body loses muscle and bone, and the loss of both are drastically reduced with regular exercise.  It also improves your balance, strength, and reduces your risk for falls.
6. Less Aches and Pains
Strengthening the muscles around your joints reduces joint pain and keeps your joints lubricated and helps with overall body aches and pains.  Wake up in the morning ready to tackle the day with out moving gingerly or moaning and groaning.

7. Get More Enjoyment out of Life
Get out enjoy the things you love with out fear of injury or fatigue.  Go play a full round of golf or sport or your choice, spend the day chasing your kids or grand kids around, enjoy a long walk. Appreciate the small things like having enough stamina to last all day and be active without feeling exhausted.  A regular exercise program makes this possible.

8. To Have Fewer Sick Days
Exercise helps keep you healthier, and fights off the common cold and upper respiratory infections.  Studies have shown that people who exercise regularly tend to get sick less often because it boosts your immune system, and are 50% less likely to call in sick to work.

There are a lot of amazing benefits to a regular exercise program; the list above is just touching the surface.  Find what motivates you and stick to it.  Create a healthy habit of getting in your daily exercise routine.  What do you want your physical outlook to be in 10-15-20-30+ years, are you going to be healthy, active, and strong?  The choice is yours; no one can want it for you or do it for you, it’s all up to you!   You do not have to go at it alone, assistance is available through fitness professional, health and wellness professionals, and support groups, but you still need to make it a personal choice to make tomorrow healthier, fitter, and more active then today.
