Pre-Plan Your Meals For Long Term Weight Loss Success

In today’s hustle and bustle world it’s extremely difficult to stick to a healthy eating routine.  Between working full time, running kids to and from activities, and various other obligations.  Many of us feel as though eating a clean healthy diet takes too much time. However, if you would just take some time to pre-plan and prepare your meals, it can actually save you a lot of time from running around, waiting in lines, or drive thrus, and possibly free up more time for other healthy activities.

I know it might seem like quite the chore to spend 1 or 2 hours on a Sunday prepping food, but I guarantee you it will leave you feeling like you have a plan for success and get you motivated for the week.  We’ve all heard the saying “Fail to plan, then plan to fail”.  This saying is very true when it comes to your nutrition. Preplanning will eliminate the stress about what you are going to eat or having to make split second decisions about what to pick up.

Don’t over think this process start by preplanning and packing your lunches, and once you have that down start mapping out your dinners. If you over complicate this step it can stop you before you even get started.  Set a goal to be consistent with planning your meals for 21 days.

Here are 6 easy ways to preplanning your healthy meals.

  1. Plan your meals for a week: Preplan your meals and grocery shopping a week in advance. This will eliminate making poor meal choices and give you a plan.
  2. Eat out once a week: Cut yourself some slack and plan a night out for dinner. If it’s planned you will know in advance and be prepared to make a smart choice.
  3. High Protein: Eat foods that are high in proteins lean meats, beans, nuts, and eggs.  High protein diets help to keep you feeling full and cuts out a lot of excess sugar from your diet.
  4. Make Salads Your New Best Friend: Eat your greens, they are super good for you and easy to prepare. Eating salads is an easy way to lower your caloric intake.
  5. Stock up on healthy snacks: Clear your house out of all the unhealthy stuff in it.  Because if it’s in the house you’ll eat it.  Stock up on healthy snacks like nuts, fresh fruit and berries.
  6. Eat Your Leftovers: Packing last night healthy dinner for lunch is an easy way to have a pre-packed lunch and not let things go to waste.  You can also repurpose leftovers and create another meal out it.  E. Take yesterdays left over steak and make a stir fry.

Before you know it planning and prepping your food and meals will become second nature, and you will really see the benefits to your waist line and pocket book.  Taking the time to preplan your meals is a sure fire way to eat healthy and live a healthier lifestyle.
